#6 EXECUTE: THINK LONG TERM – ACT SHORT TERM Your plan needs to be executed. This will likely require that you organise yourself and your business to be able to do so. Act! Begin small, but show yourself and the people around you that something is actually happening. Do not wait for perfection. Execute. Preferably with a long-term perspective on something that will also make sense in three and six months (that is why you need a plan). But now is the time to act. #7 TAKE CARE OF YOUR FELLOW HUMAN BEINGS Of course, safety, disease prevention, etc. should be your first priority. That goes without say-ing. But as a leader, you need to think even further. How do you handle those employees who are concerned? What can you do for those employees you may need to let go? What do you say to your trusted sub-supplier who may be going bankrupt in three months because you have stopped buying from him? Your actions should be responsible and clear, and as the leader, you also have a major responsibility to consider how your actions may affect your fellow human beings. Be present. And help them! IT IS NOT YOU ALONE – IT IS YOU TOGETHER The above inspiration may cause you to think that you, the individual leader, have to do everything. Of course, this is not the case. As the leader, it is your responsibility to leverage the combined forces of your team and to ensure that you create solutions together. That you lift and act together. That is leadership! 4
