HERE’S YOUR FIVE-STEP ACTION PLAN COVID-19 has caused serious concerns and uncertainties on a global scale that has both authorities and companies working round the clock on damage control. The top priority for everyone, not just global and local health organisations, must be to avoid further spread of the COVID-19 virus. For business executives, however, it is also a necessary priority to protect their employees and to protect their business, in that order. This is a tough challenge, as the situation changes daily, and it can be hard to decide which initiatives to focus on first. We offer our recommendations to business executives on what they can do to help contain COVID-19 to protect their community and their employees and what they can do to protect their business. 1 FOLLOW THE ADVICE OF HEALTH AUTHORITIES First and foremost, all businesses should of course follow the official advice given by the global and local health authorities. The health of people is ‘the top priority for everyone from individuals to companies. In Denmark, the relevant authority is the Danish Health Authority In Sweden, this is Folkhälsomyndigheten Furthermore, the World Health Organisation (WHO) issues a daily situation report that can be followed here. Most companies have already introduced several precautionary measures to protect the health of their employees. These precautions are for preventing the virus to spread and include: • Hygiene, e.g. implementing sanitation dispensers, hourly wiping of surfaces • Meetings, e.g. setting restrictions on number of participants • Travelling bans for high-risk areas • 14-day quarantine of employees who have travelled to high-risk areas • Control of visitors, etc. • High level of information to the employees on precautionary measures they should take to protect themselves, also outside of the workplace
