I POST OPERATIVE CARE Collar Development Phase During this initial and vitally important phase, KRUUSE worked closely together with a market leader in strategic design and innovation. The first step was to look at the current state of veterinary postoperative management – a thorough market analysis as well as feedback from KRUUSE’s own customers. The next step was to identify the trends and the unmet needs. KRUUSE spent many hours visiting veterinary hospitals throughout Scandinavia to get feedback from customers, both vets and veterinary nurses. In order to develop the best possible product, KRUUSE listened closely to what the specialists had to say – the specialists being the veterinary health care professionals, who provide postoperative care for their patients every day. This gave KRUUSE the best possible understanding of current trends as well as the unmet needs KRUUSE should aim to fulfil. There was consensus among KRUUSE’s customers, that a well-functioning protective device preventing self-inflicted trauma, is a valued and necessary tool in postoperative management of many canine patients. The potentially serious consequences of not using a protective device, in order to prevent these patients from biting or licking body parts or scratching their head and neck while wounds and injuries heal, must be avoided. It was evident that it was necessary for KRUUSE to have special focus on patient comfort. Many dogs show signs of distress or confusion when putting on a traditional e-collar. It was postulated that a new device could help increase owner compliance, if dog owners perceived their dog less anxious and more comfortable when using the new device. It was also pointed out to KRUUSE, that it was time consuming during a busy day at the clinic to assemble and fit a traditional e-collar to a patient. Effortless placement of the new device on the patient and general ease of handling, both at the clinic and at home, were requests from KRUUSE’s customers. Focus areas were now clear. KRUUSE should aim to provide a protective device with excellent functionality and with special attention given to: n Empathy – wearing the device should be as stress-free as possible for the patient n Procedure – handling the device should be as quick and easy as possible www.kruuse.com
