SEAHORSE 62 Bulk Carrier of the future 62,000 DWT Ultramax Bulk Carrier NOX Tier III compliant SEAHORSE 62 is a modern 62,000 DWT Ultramax Bulk Carrier, designed in close cooperation with shipowners with the aim to create a future-oriented Ultramax Bulk Carrier incorporating all existing and known future regulations. The SEAHORSE 62 design is developed with specific focus on: Economical and efficient operation Environmental and maintenance friendliness Safety Loading flexibility Latest regulations for bulk carriers SEAHORSE 62 is laid out with five single-skinned cargo holds with hopper tanks to ensure easy grab discharge. All cargo holds are laid out with wing tanks to minimise requirement for trimming of light bulk cargoes. SEAHORSE 62 cargo holds are equipped with a CO2 firefighting system, an A60 fire-insulated engine room bulkhead and natural cargo hold ventilation ensuring safe carriage of a wide range of bulk cargoes. SEAHORSE 62 is equipped with four 30.5 mts SWL wireluffing cargo cranes and four motor grabs stowed on crossdecks between hatches. Short turnaround time is achieved by an effective cargo hold cleaning by portable washing machines. A permanent washing water return line is arranged in each cargo hold at tank top level. A portable pneumatic pump can, via the return line, transfer dirty washing water to two cargo hold washing water holding tanks arranged for temporary storage to enable cargo hold cleaning in sensitive and restricted areas. The vessel is equipped with an IMO/USCG-approved 2 × 800m3/h ballast water treatment plant. Main and auxiliary engines are all in compliance with IMO’s NOx Tier III requirements by HP SCR Systems. The SEAHORSE 62 is laid out to operate two HFO and MDO grades, i.e. low sulphur fuel operations can be ensured in SECA areas and harbours. The hullform of the vessel has been developed to obtain lowest possible fuel oil consumption with the operational draft and trim range. A slender bow with vertical stem has been adopted to minimise speed loss in adverse weather conditions. The aftship is designed with high efficient propeller, MHI Reaction Fins® and rudder bulb to maximise the propulsion efficiency.
