Building on years of engineering expertise, our Low Temperature Option, Vestas Ice Detection™, Vestas De-Icing™, Vestas Anti-Icing System™ and Vestas Ice Assessment™ ensure consistent and compliant output during icing and in cold climates. Additionally, these solutions will not have any adverse impact on turbine noise levels, energy production or lightning damage risk. Vestas Low Temperature Option Enabling turbine functionality in ambient temperatures as low as -30°C, Vestas Low Temperature Option employs heating elements to ensure the continued operation of temperature-sensitive components. Installed on more than 5,000 turbines worldwide, Vestas Low Temperature Option is a proven high performer in cold climate conditions. Vestas Ice Detection™ The Vestas Ice Detection™ system detects ice build-up on turbine rotors and helps to limit the risk of ice throw. With sophisticated sensors installed on each blade, it continuously monitors the natural frequency flow oscillation produced by turbines during operation. When ice is present, the sensors are able to accurately assess the impact of the ice by detecting changes in frequency. Day or night, if ice build-up becomes critical the system puts the turbine into safe mode, only restarting once safe conditions have been confirmed.
